If you already have a New Year’s Eve outfit full of glitter and glamour planned out, you need a hairstyle that is equally show-stopping to match. We spoke with celebrity hairstylist Rene Fris to discover what some of his favorite looks for NYE. Learn how you can get these looks for yourself.
Curly Hair
Having springy spirally hair is a great way to jump into the new year with a fun look. Fris recommends that you use a small one-inch curling wand to turn a flat bob into a look that is full of body. Mist your hair with hairspray to ensure that your curls look fresh throughout the entire night.
Halo Braids
Braids are almost always a great and easy way to get a fancy look without having to spend hours on your hairstyle. Try out these halo braids to revamp your style into something completely unique. You can even stack multiple braids for something with all little extra texture.
To get started, Fris recommends that you divide your hair into three or four sections. As you braid the front pieces, coil the hair and then pin the braids as you wrap it around the hair. Next, Rene Fris recommends that you twist the back of your hair and then pin the hair.
Top Knot
A top knot it another great look if you want something that won’t get in your way as you dance the night away. Fris recommends that first, you use a styling cream like this one from the Rene Fris line. That helps keep the hair sleek and easier to manipulate into a topknot. Put your hair into a high ponytail and then split the tail into two sections. Next, twist the two parts together and wrap it into a bun. Simply pin the ends with bobby pins to keep the look secure throughout the night.
Hair Clip
Adding a pretty NYE-themed barrette or other types of hair accessories is a great way to add a little extra sparkle to your look. No matter what your hair texture or length, you can add an accent to your hair. You can also choose to keep your hair up or down, depending on what you like!
Hair RibbonWhile you might not think that this style would work for you because it makes you look too young, it is a great way for you to do your hair on NYE. Consider using a velvet ribbon for a classic look that makes you look like a grownup.
Sleek Hair
If hair accessories or bows and ribbons aren’t your thing, then consider going a little more simply with this slicked-back look. It is a great way to stand out without having tons of extra things going on. Fris suggests that you use a gel or paste with extra hold, like this Styling Matte Paste from Rene Fris’ line.
You can get a little extra help by using bobby pins to help keep the look back. If you have a dress that is super sparkly and full of bling, a more low-key hairstyle like this is perfect.
Happy New Year!
